General information
Hyperuricosuria and hyperuricemia (huu) is a autosomal recessive trait for which all Dalmatian dogs are homozygous. Huu is caused by three possible mutations on the SLC2A9 gene, which leads to reduced levels of one of the isoforms.
Clinical features
Clinical features are high uric acid levels, which result in bladder stones. Generally, the bladder stones are removed surgically.
