General Information
Hypothyroidism is a hormonal disorder in which the thyroid gland is underactive, causing a range of health issues. There are two mutations known in cats to cause this hormonal disorder. These variants can occur in all breeds and are both caused by a recessive mutation to the gene TPO.
Signs of hypothyroidism in cats can include lethargy/inactivity, decreased apetite, reduced growth, thinning or matted hair, unexplained weight gain, constipation, and a decreased body temperature.
This package tests for two different mutations in the TPO gene.
