We are pleased to announce that a DNA test for Inflammatory Pulmonary Disease in the Rough Collie is now available. Inflammatory Pulmonary Disease is a disorder similar to other know forms of Primary Ciliary Dyskinesia (CPD) which in the Rough Collie is caused by a recessive mutation to the AKNA gene.

Dogs with Inflammatory Pulmonary Disease will develop a bronchopneumonia when they are only a few days old. As owner you can notice nasal discharge, fever, coughing and difficulty with breathing in affected dogs. De bronchopneumonia can be effectively treated with antibiotics and secretolytics, but will relapse quickly when treatment is stopped.

Inflammatory Pulmonary Disease in the Rough Collie can be tested with our DNA test with test number H726 or as part of the CombiBreed pack Rough Collie (test number H621).
