Bernard-Soulier Syndrome is a platelet disorder that can cause abnormal, excessive bleeding, such as nosebleeds or prolonged bleeding after medical procedures. This particular variant of the disorder, Bernard-Soulier Type C, is caused by a recessive mutation to the gene GP9. This variant is found in the English Cocker Spaniel.

Clinical features

Affected dogs can show mild to moderate abnormal bleeding, which may manifest as regular bleeding from the gums or nose, bloody urine, bleeding after mating, or prolonged bleeding after injury or surgery.
