General information
Polyneuropathy is a neural disorder that affects the peripheral nervous system (the nerves outside the spinal cord and brain). This variant of the disease, LPN2, occurs in the Leonberger. It is caused by an incompletely dominant mutation to the gene GJA9.
Clinical features
Affected dogs present with weakness, muscle atrophy, difficulty breathing and a change in barking pitch.
