The Lundehund is a Norwegian hunting dog and a breed predisposed to Lundehund Syndrome (LS). This unique gastro-intestinal disease varies in severity, ranging from minor recurrent diarrhea to severe intestinal inflammation. The onset of Lundehund Syndrome symptoms varies, but is usually between 2 and 10 years of age.
The severe intestinal inflammation causes weight loss and hair loss, edema of the limbs, ascites and/or lethargy. Cases resulting in death or requiring euthanasia occur. Lundehund Syndrome can be partially treated with anti-inflammatory drugs, specialized diets and vitamin supplements.

Lundehund Syndrome (LS) can now be tested with test number H864.
