A parentage verification is a comparison of the hereditary information (the DNA profile) of the offspring with both parent animals, giving reliable information whether the animal indeed is offspring of the parent animals or not.
We determine the DNA profile of the offspring and compare this with the DNA profiles of the (possible) parent animals to verify if the offspring’s DNA is a combination of the DNA of both parent animals. To get a reliable result, we need to compare the DNA profile of all possible parents. Please make sure that VHLGenetics is in the possession of the DNA profiles of all possible parent animals.
A DNA profile or parentage verification does not provide information about genetic traits or disorders.
