Progressive Retinal Atrophy (PRA) is a large group of genetic diseases in which the retina gradually degenerates over time, causing a progressive loss of vision. This form of the disorder, known as Cone-Rod Dystrophy 3 (crd3), is found in the Glen of Imaal Terrier. It is caused by a recessive mutation to the gene ADAM9.

Clinical features

Affected dogs show progressive degeneration of the retina, eventually leading to blindness. Onset is variable, but averages around the age of 6 years.
