Canine Leukocyte Adhesion Deficiency (CLAD) is a fatal immunodeficiency disease. This variant of the disease, CLAD Type I, is caused by a recessive mutation in the ITGB2 gene, which encodes the leukocyte integrin beta-2 subunit (CD18). The disease is found in the Irish Setter

Clinical features

Clinical features include severe infections of omphalophlebitis, skin infections, osteomyelitis, gingivitis, fever, anorexia, lameness, impaired wound healing, severe skin infections, salivation, thickened mandible, enlarged metaphyses of the distal radius, ulna, tibia, fibula, lameness, enlarged lymph nodes, and low body weight. Untreated dogs often die by 6 months of age.
